6 Personal Branding Platforms
6 Personal Branding Platforms from Raleigh R Pinskey - PromoteYourself.com
My hero, circus impresario P.T. Barnum, said, “Without promotion a terrible thing happens, NOTHING! You might have built the better mousetrap or have the solution to community issues, but if you don’t tell your target market where you are, how they can buy your goods or engage your services? How are they going to beat a path to your door?
It doesn’t matter if you get involved with the entire community or just in your field. What matters is that you grow an image of gold that will bring you gold in many different shapes and sizes.
1. Offer teleclasses to a global market. You don’t have to go through the expense of a hotel room. Utilize the meeting space at your community, religious or business affiliations. Offer to speak for an association, service club, adult education facility, or at a business or religious organization. They will announce you in their newsletter before the event, and usually capsulate your presentation in the issue that follows.
2. Joint venture with complimentary professionals and cross promote. Collaborate on articles for each other’s newsletters, Web sites and trade journals to help boost your databases. If you own a shoe store, offer to put your shoes on an apparel shop’s window mannequin with a note that reads “compliments of Sam’s shoes.”
3. Showcase your goods or services by placing them in organization auctions or raffles. Add a one-on-one consultation to enhance the value. I bundle my products in two’s, three’s and more to create various bidding levels. Offering different levels shows the scope of what I offer.
4. Host your own Internet TV or Radio show. Take this opportunity to reach out to the people with whom you want to do business. An interview often gets you the person who wouldn’t return your sales calls. Show the tape in your store or waiting room. Transcribe the tape and send it out as a special report to your database.
5. Write articles for magazines, newspapers and the Internet ezines.
6. Mentor others. If your time or staff is limited, sit on the board of organizations that encourage mentoring and contribute your organizational skills and expertise to developing the program. Mentoring is a masterful way to develop a sphere of influence and seek out Joint Venture partners.
