6 MORE Personal Branding Platforms
6 More Personal Branding Platforms from Raleigh R Pinskey - PromoteYourself.com
1. Sponsor events or charities. Name recognition on the Opera brochures and program makes for great visibility and a way to connect with the business and service community on a different level. Charities are always looking for sponsorships. Money is not always the object. Often times you can barter for services for name recognition so you can network and expand your contacts.
2. Hold a contest. If you’re a linen store align yourself with the table accessories stores and a restaurant to hold a table-setting contest. If you’re in the apparel industry ask the public to contribute new designs. Ask your target market or your children to write an essay for a holiday or special day.
3. Give an award. Best Teacher. Best Start-Up Business. Best Community Activist. It has continuity if you offer and award in your field, but if your business crosses over into a broad base, you don’t have to be that profession to offer an award.
4. Romance your database. Send out success tips and tools on various business topics from your clients, friends or vendors. Ask your CPA for tax tips, your attorney for legal notes, your physician for heath tips. This is a great way to get visibility.
5. Form a strategic alliance with a business that is not a competitor but “like-minded” and trade bag stuffers. Join with other stores or service providers to put flyers in each other’s bags or invoices.
6. Utilize all of these strategies to generate a story in your local media. The exposure can be worth thousands of dollars to you in free advertising. It is true that visibility marketing takes time, energy and effort, but the benefits show up in customer acquisition, retention and appreciation, leading to a healthier bottom line. Sit down with a piece of paper and a pencil and say, what do I want? What’s stopping me from going there? How can I avoid that? Forget that as a child you were taught not to talk to strangers. Promote and prosper!
