Womens Media Summit

The Small Business Public Relations & Media Marketing Event

Welcome to the Women’s Media Summit Blog!

Heidi Richards, Founder & CEO - The WECAI Network

Today is an exciting day!  We are launching the Women’s Media Summit Blog and I am delighted to be writing the first post about it.

I have learned that the first post can set the tone for any new blog. It is important because readers will either say, “this is a great place to be” and sign up to get more great information or they will say, “there’s nothing here that I can use” and leave never to return. So my goal today and every day leading up to the Women’s Media Summit is to offer you some great advice, knowledge and information that you can use to help your business grow.

Planning the Women’s Media Summit has caused me to reflect on my own media journey. And it has been a wild one. I have been so fortunate to “be in the right place, at the right time,” to “meet the right people” who can write about my business and to “be the resource for the media” when they need me.  Because getting media attention is a give and take relationship. Many people think that the media is sitting around just waiting for us to call them! That could not be further from the truth. The media is proactive, resourceful and always on the lookout for great stories and people to write about. So why shouldn’t it be you?

The women and men who have signed up to share their expertise with you will tell you the real “secrets” about just how to get you stories in front of the media. Some of our experts are professionals “in the trenches,” and others have had incredible success in getting their own stories told and shared with the world.  They have done ‘publicity stunts,’ hosted media events, created exceptional public relations campaigns and received incredible media attention for their efforts.

In upcoming posts you will hear from some of our guest experts as they share their tips for getting the attention of the media.  So stay tuned!

My tip today is: sign up for the RSS feed of this blog so you won’t miss any of the great information to come.

We look forward to bringing you this amazing event filled with such talented and smart women and men.  Be sure and register early to get a good seat!

Warmest regards,

Heidi

  2. Heidi,

I am honored to be able to take part in your Women’s Media Summit. As you know, I spent more than 25 years in the news business and now I’m on the “other side” trying to get attention by the same folks I worked with. You’d think it would be easy, don’t you? It’s an interesting experience and one that I love to share.

My tip today is: Identify opportunities for media coverage.

Know what’s going on daily as it relates to your book, business or product subject matter and look for opportunities to offer comments. Become the expert and let journalists know you are available for interviews as it relates to the “News of the Day.”

    Peace & Blessings,
    Beverly Mahone
